Ornskoldsvik is situated in Hoga Kusten – The High Coast – in the north of Sweden.
This city breathes hockey and the list of outstanding players coming from Ornskoldsvik is long: Peter Forsberg, Markus Naslund, Daniel and Henrik Sedin, Victor Hedman, Niklas Sundstrom, Tobias Enstrom just to name a few of them.
The history of Ornskoldsvik begins already during the age of Bronze and got city rights on 1 July 1894. The city has been named after the governor Per Abraham Ornskold and is one of the few cities in Sweden that has been named after an individual. The population in Ornskoldsvik is nearly 60,000 persons of which around 33,000 live in the city centre.
The city centre offers shopping, restaurants, coffee shops and a big public bath with SPA, water parks and slides.
