Austria's Philipp Wimmer will be suspended for today's game against Latvia.

The IIHF Disciplinary Panel has issued a one-game suspension to Austria defender Philipp Wimmer, for a violation of IIHF Official Playing Rule 48 – Illegal Check to the Head or Neck.
The violation occurred occurred at 39:43 in the 2nd period of Austria’s preliminary round game against Norway.
Norwegian forward Eirik Salsten was skating along the boards near the Austrian bench in an attempt to gain possession of the puck as it was passed along the boards from teammate Martin Ronnild. In an effort to prevent Salsten from gaining possession Wimmer – while moving backwards towards the boards – stands up in an attempt to deliver a bodycheck. In doing so his skates left the ice and his left arm hits the head of Salsten. Immediately after the hit Salsten fell to the ice clutching his head.
Based on all facts ascertained, the Disciplinary Panel determined that because Wimmer delivered the hit completely off his feet and made the principle point of contact with his forearm/glove to the head area, he was thereby recklessly endangering the safety of Salsten and violated IIHF Official Rule 48 – Illegal Check to the Head or Neck.
Wimmer will therefore be sanctioned with a one-game suspension. He will miss Austria’s next preliminary round game on 20 May against Latvia.
