At the end of the preliminary round, it’s still good times for the North Americans in our second edition of the Olympic men’s hockey Power Rankings. Canada retains its grip on first place after running roughshod over Group A, outscoring its foes 20-3 on aggregate. The U.S. sits second with three straight wins over Group C opponents Latvia, Denmark, and Germany. And Slovakia finds its way into third place after topping Group B in an unusual fashion based on goal difference. For the 12 competing nations, it’s now win-or-go-home time. No matter who triumphs or flops, we’ll be serving up a fresh helping of Power Rankings after the quarter-finals!
