Hockey has reached heights never seen before at these Olympics! And at the very top of our final Power Rankings, you will find the United States, which triumphed 2-1 over Canada in the gold medal game of the 2026 men’s hockey tournament in Milan. Jack Hughes provided an electrifying moment with his overtime winner. It’s the first American Olympic gold medal since the 1980 “Miracle on Ice” and the U.S.'s first ever with an all-NHL roster. The Canadians, who wind up in second place, will surely be hungry for vengeance at the 2030 Games in Nice, France. And Finland takes third place, continuing its tradition of strong performances at the “NHL Olympics” with a 6-1 bronze-medal thrashing of Slovakia. We can’t wait to do this all over again in four years – but in the meantime, stay tuned for plenty more Power Rankings at upcoming IIHF tournaments!
