It was drama and tension right down to the last second! Our final Power Rankings of the 2026 IIHF Ice Hockey World Championship see the Finns topping the competition after their hard-fought 1-0 overtime win over host Switzerland in the gold medal game. The heartbroken Swiss, who had a brilliant tournament with nine straight wins until Sunday night, take second place. And the Norwegians wind up in third place after their Cinderella run culminating with a 3-2 sudden-death victory over Canada for the bronze medal – an unprecedented event in IIHF history. No matter who you cheer for, we hope you’ve soaked up the buoyant spirit of this magical tournament in Zurich and Fribourg.
