Talk about a familiar feeling! In our fifth Power Rankings of the 2026 IIHF Ice Hockey World Championship, Canada – the nation that has won the most gold medals in international hockey history – regains first place after eliminating the defending champion U.S. with a 4-0 quarter-final win. Finland holds on to second place after downing Czechia 4-1 to move on. Meanwhile, host Switzerland slips to third place after some iffy moments in their do-or-die 3-1 victory over Sweden, while their ardent fans remain undaunted. Who will come through when the medals are on the line? Bring on the final climax!
