Welcome to Zurich

Zurich

The Host City and region of Zurich combines nature, culture and world-class cuisine in the most sophisticated places

It is worth planning a few extra days in Zurich, as Switzerland's largest city has a lot to offer: Zurich lies on the picturesque Lake Zurich and is surrounded by the two rivers Sihl and Limmat. The magnificent old town impresses with its historic guild houses and invites you to stroll through its winding alleyways and hidden oases. Art and culture are very important in Zurich: No other city in Switzerland has such a high density of museums and galleries as it is the Swiss capital of design and architecture.

The largest art museum in Switzerland

With the Chipperfield building opening its doors in 2021, the Kunsthaus Zürich is now the largest art museum in Switzerland. Top-class contemporary artists and works impress not only art aficionados, but also inexperienced and newcomers to art on around 11’500 square meters. But there is never a dull moment in Zurich in terms of culture either: around 50 museums inspire visitors with art, history, design, architecture, botany, medicine and much more.
