The IIHF has imposed a four-year period of ineligibility on former Russian ice hockey player Igor Grigorenko for an anti-doping rule violation under Article 2.2 (Use of a Prohibited Substance) of the IIHF Anti-Doping Regulations.
The violation concerns a sample collected in-competition on 12 March 2015, following a Kontinental Hockey League (KHL) game between CSKA Moscow and Jokerit Helsinki.
Investigations conducted by the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA), including analysis of the Moscow Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS) data, uncovered evidence indicative of the presence of the following prohibited substances in the provided sample: metenolone, oxandrolone, trenbolone, meldonium, cathine, and pseudoephedrine. These substances are included on the WADA Prohibited List under the categories of Anabolic Agents and Stimulants.
Mr. Grigorenko was formally charged and given the opportunity to respond. Having failed to do so, he was deemed to have admitted the violation and accepted the imposition of a four-year period of ineligibility, in accordance with the applicable rules.
The period of ineligibility began on 12 August 2025.
