The 2026 IIHF Ice Hockey World Championship Division II, Group A (WMIIA) and 2026 IIHF Ice Hockey World Championship Division IV (WMIV) tournaments will not take place as scheduled.
Following the decision by the IIHF Council, the Championships, originally planned to be held in the United Arab Emirates from April 20-26, 2026 and in Kuwait from April 12-18, 2026 respectively, will not be staged as planned due to the current situation in the region.
This decision was reached following careful evaluation of the evolving circumstances, with safety and security remaining the top priority. The matter will be further discussed at the next IIHF Council meeting where a decision will be made on the status of the championships.
